The Rest Button
Anyone with children (two legged or 4 legged) knows that there are hills and valleys…time to coast and relax and time to push through and motor along…sometimes we enjoy everyday…and other times we just survive the day. For the self employed the struggle to keep your balance seems somewhat amplified. The hills seem like mountains and the valleys…well, they seem like the Grand Canyon!
My family has been in one of those “survival” modes since December- two self employed parents working hard (and sometimes around the clock!) to keep things together despite the grumpy teenager, needy toddler, illnesses, one concussion, other assorted injuries, frozen pipes and of course…the “knee break” that kept one of my children home from school for 6 weeks. All and all, enough to challenge the sanity of this Mother who prides herself on scaling mountains and not sweating the small stuff.

Ever feel like you need a reset? I have been searching for my personal reset button…and I think I have found it in the Caribbean- with 3000km of coastline and multiple pools, I think it is just what this family needs. I hear the food will be terrible (oh well), the patchy internet connection will be problematic (sounds like a blessing to me) and that we will need to bring our own large size drinking cups (seriously) but, all that is okay. If I can survive running a business and managing this winter’s many curve balls than I can, and will, enjoy myself just about anyplace where life is FLAT. Fingers crossed. Toes crossed too.
If you are taking time off to enjoy the March Break then I wish you happiness and safety wherever your adventure takes you- whether close or far from home, may your down time be generous and your memories plenty. I look forward to returning “reset” and ready to leap tall buildings in a single bound both at work and in my family life 🙂
Well said Amy. Have a wonderful, well deserved holiday!!!! Fingers and toes crossed for you! Xo
